Cartersville police were called early Saturday morning after a local man was stabbed.

According to the report, the victim suffered six stab wounds -- two on the right side of his chest, one to the left side of the chest, one to the stomach, one to the side and one to the left shoulder. When officers arrived, the victim's intestines were pushing through the wound to his stomach.

The man said a friend had stabbed him behind Young Brothers Pharmacy, 2 W. Main St. The man said Jeffery Ansley, 47, of 112 N. Erwin St., Apt. 8, Cartersville, had been drinking and got mad before the incident.

Ansley was located at his home covered in blood. He told officers he knew he stabbed the victim but could not remember why. Ansley was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.

The victim was transported to Floyd Medical Center where he was expected to undergo surgery for his extensive injuries.
