According to published reports, 22-year-old Xavier Thompson of Cartersville was killed in the shooting in Mandan, a city of more than 18,000 in central North Dakota near Bismark. Police recovered two handguns from the scene, one with Thompson and the other in an adjacent yard.
Thompson had been staying with relatives in the area.
Steve Voegele, 25, of Mandan, ND, was injured in the shooting and hospitalized.
Man allegedly drugs, rapes woman in Acworth
A man who allegedly drugged a woman was arrested for raping the 28-year-old Villa Rica woman, according to the Bartow County Sheriff's Office incident report.
The woman's boyfriend called police Sunday around 12:45 a.m. to Scenic Mountain Drive in Acworth. He said he was outside and returned to find the bedroom door locked.
The boyfriend and two of his friends returned to knock on the door, and Ferrell Charley, 39, of Smyrna, opened it and was not wearing pants. Charley then ran down the street.
The woman said Charley gave her a drink that made her unaware of what was happening.
Charley was arrested and charged with rape and aggravated sodomy.
Couple suspected in local truck stop robbery
A 40-year-old West Point man walking near a Cass-White Road truck stop said he was robbed by a man who pointed a gun at his face.
According to the Bartow County Sheriff's Office incident report, about 3 a.m. the victim was walking back to his truck along a path on the side of the TA at 981 Cass-White Road in Cartersville and was approached by the man who asked for a light.
When he told the man he had a light, the victim said the robber showed a black semiautomatic pistol and said, "You know what this is, now give it up."
The armed robber took $45 and a cell phone, and left in a white SUV pulling a dark colored box trailer toward Interstate 75.
The TA clerk told deputies he saw the couple, and the man seemed to be casing the store.
Home owners association investigation leads to arrest
A Euharlee woman allegedly fraudulently signed 53 checks over the course of two years, stealing money from Woodvine subdivision's home owners association.
According to a Euharlee Police Department press release, Alisha Dawn Napoletano, 31, of 24 Wysteria Drive in Cartersville, was arrested Thursday and charged with 53 counts of second-degree forgery and one count of theft by conversion.
Chief Duane Smith said Napoletano allegedly collected homeowners dues and used them for her own personal use, and the probe began when new HOA leaders came on board.
The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are possible.
Man accused of 'tagging' Euharlee's Covered Bridge
Euharlee police Thursday arrested a man accused of spray painting the city's historic Covered Bridge with gang graffiti.
In a press release, Chief Duane Smith said investigators identified Joshua Matthew Hoek, 18, of 31 Stonebrook Drive in Euharlee, with evidence collected from a popular social networking website.
Hoek, who was charged with three felonies -- second-degree criminal damage to property under the Georgia Gang Act, interference with government property under the Georgia Gang Act and violation of the Georgia Gang Act -- allegedly damaged the stone pillar and wall under the bridge with gang graffiti.
Smith said officers spotted the large neon green graffiti that read "West Side" and began the investigation, which is ongoing. More arrests are possible.
