Cartersville Middle wins sub-region

A strong first half offfensive showing propelled Cartersville Middle to a 32-16 defeat of South Central on Thursday.

Tiamon Pennymon scored two touchdowns on runs of 76 and 28 yards, Malik Riddick scored a 32-yard touchdown and made a two-point conversion and Jahir Camps tallied the final touchdown from 12 yards for the Purple Hurricanes. Greg Davis made two PATs to close out scoring.

South Central scored touchdowns just before halftime and late in the final quarter, making both two-point conversions.

The Canes put 26 of their points up before the half, then added a touchdown in the third quarter.

The victory improves Cartersville regular season record to 6 - 0 record as it finished in first place in the South sub region.

They will face Ashworth in the first round of the playoffs at Cass High on Saturday, Oct. 16.
