Woodland High's football team needed a flawless game and some self-inflicted wounds from Region 7-AAAA's best team, Chattahoochee, to pull off an improbable upset.

Instead, the Wildcats wrecked their chances and actually aided the No. 9-ranked Cougars, who scored in every facet of the game in their 52-14 win.

In other local football action, Cass defeated Forsyth Central 30-10, Cartersville rebounded with a 24-14 win at Gilmer and Adairsville was shut out 21-0 by Armuchee.
