Shirley Ann "Opal" Wilkins, 73, of Cartersville and formerly of Roswell, passed away Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010.

Born Sept. 6, 1937, in Atlanta, she was the daughter of the late Henry Grady Johnson Sr. and the late Lelia Eugene Stephens Johnson. She was also preceded in death by her husband and soul mate, Manson B. Wilkins; her sisters, Elizabeth Abel, Norma Jean Johnson, and Christine Johnson; and her brothers, Henry Grady Johnson Jr. and Raymond Lee Johnson.

Opal lived a simple life and loved her grandchildren. She also loved to cook, and she was a member of Willeo Baptist Church in Roswell.

Survivors include her daughter, Beth Cannon of Cartersville; her granddaughters, Kayla Nicole Cannon and Courtney Danielle Cannon; her sisters and brother-in-law, Joyce and Jadar Cagle of Dahlonega and Mildred Lowe of Crossville, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, Oct. 17, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with the Rev. Jimmy Day and the Rev. Charles Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Roswell.

Serving as pallbearers will be Russell Cannon, Josh Murphy, Jeff Davis, Chris Miller and Hunter Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Cagle, Steve Cannon, Ed Miller and Larry Davis. Gentlemen serving as pallbearers are requested to meet at the funeral home by 1:15 p.m. on Sunday.

The family received friends Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Road, Cartersville, GA 30120.
