Born Nov. 21, 1954, she was the daughter of Hugh Payne and Vera Waters Purcell. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Leonard Hendrix.
Deborah was of the Church of God faith. She served as president of the United Daughters of the Confederacy for two terms and served one term as the president of the Cassville Historical Society. Deborah was also a member of the Pace Society of America, the Order of the Eastern Star Sonora Chapter 484, and the Bartow History Museum.
Survivors include her parents, Edwin and Vera Purcell, and Hugh and Dot Payne; her daughter, Alecia Hendrix; her goddaughter, Tonia Ogle; her brother and sister-in-law, Rick and Debbie Payne; and several cousins and great aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, Oct. 17, at 4 p.m. at Peeples Valley Community Church with Pastor Barbara Davidson and Pastor Tim Thompson. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jerry Satterfield, Rex Bearden, Ronnie Bearden, Justin Bell, Marvin Hendrix, Renith Hendrix and Steve Sanford. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Shane Garner. These gentlemen are asked to be at the funeral home by 2:45 on Sunday.
The family received friends Saturday from 2 to 9 p.m. and will receive again Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home, 430 Cassville Road, Cartersville.
