Jackie Robinson

Mr. Jackie Robinson, also known as ‘Jack Rabbit’, 75, of Cartersville, Georgia, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022, at Piedmont Cartersville Medical Center.

A funeral service was held on Monday, August 29, 2022,  at 1:00 P.M. at Mt Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 147 N Jones Street, Cartersville, Georgia 30120. 

He laid in state in the church from 12:00 P.M. until the hour of service.

Interment followed at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, 668 Burnt Hickory Road, Cartersville, Georgia 30120.

The family received friends on Sunday, August 28, 2022 from 6:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at Mack Eppinger and Sons Funeral Home, 210 North Bartow Street, Cartersville, GA 30120.

Jackie was born June 5, 1947 in Cartersville to the late Bennie and Lila Jo Robinson. He was the eldest of ten siblings. Jackie was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and was educated in the Bartow County School System. He graduated from Summer Hill High School in 1966. Jackie was employed with Goodyear.

He was very active in baseball, playing with the County League. He coached Little T League. Jackie loved his family, children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He had a plethora of friends, loved by many and never met a stranger.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie and Lila Jo Robinson and a sister, Julie Ann Robinson. Jackie leaves to cherish his loving memory, his wife, Cynthia LaVette Robinson; children, Betrina Woods, Jackie Antonio Robinson (Alex), Shannon DeVone LaVette, Christoper Tyler LaVette and YaShica LaVette Rawlings (Milton); brothers, Kenny Robinson, Millard Robinson, and Joel Eric Robinson; sisters, Kay Moore (Roderick), Brenda Miller (Calvin), Phyllis Robinson, Issie Kennedy (Bruce), Lorraine Fabian and Susie Ann Brown; thirteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
